The OBF graphometic module: the advantages of going digital

graphometic module

If you follow us on our official LinkedIn page, you will already know about the news announced a few weeks ago: thanks also to the collaboration with eGlue, OnBoarding Funnel is among the tools chosen by ACEL Energie to improve the customer experience at the physical branch while taking a further step towards their paperless pledge. Thanks to our module dedicated to the digitization of branch activities through graphometric signature, for a few weeks ACEL customers have been able to choose to sign digitally, thus saving paper as well as speeding up processes.

What is the graphometric signature?

The graphometric signature is a type of digital signature that is carried out by signing with a special pen on the surface of an enabled tablet. When the signature is written on the screen, the tablet records its unique characteristics such as:

– the pressure of the hand;

– the inclination of the hand;

– the movement of the pen;

– the speed of hand movement;

– the speed of writing;

– the number of times that the pen is lifted from the surface.

Thanks to all these features, which make the signature unique, the process is considered much safer than the normal signing of a document with paper and pen. Furthermore, to add an additional layer of accountability, the system records the date and time of the process.

It is thanks to these characteristics that the graphometric signature is becoming increasingly widespread not only in the utility market but also in the finance, banking, and medical ones.

The advantages of the graphometric signature

Like many of the new tools and methods that digitization is introducing in the utilities’ application map, the graphometric signature also makes it possible to take advantage of a whole series of improvements both at a company and operational level and to maintain the focus on environmental sustainability.

It helps the environment

Without a doubt, all of us have found ourselves at least once walking out of a branch of our water, electricity, or gas supplier with our hands full of paper documents. If we multiply our case by the hundreds of thousands of customers that a medium to large-sized company manages, paper consumption is extreme, as are its consequences. If until a few years ago technology did not allow to choose other ways and paper signature was the only possible method to ensure the validity of an act or a document, today companies really have no more excuses to continue using paper. OnBoarding Funnel, as well as ACEL Energie who chose us, think this way and the graphometric signature module is the result. Instead of sheets and more sheets of paper, all you need is a tablet and our module.

It speeds up processes

Another advantage of digitization that the graphometric signature also puts at the service of companies is the speeding up of processes. Each digital document validated with a graphometric signature is easy to archive and later to search and find, helping operators and customers to save precious time.

It frees up physical spaces

One of the consequences of the transition to paperless is the need for less space to archive documents: if every contract becomes virtual, we can say goodbye to the waste of space dedicated to archiving paper documents.

It is more secure than the regular signature

As pointed out above, the graphometric signature has a much higher level of security than the normal paper signature. This depends on the fact that it records the unique characteristics and metrics of not only the signature but also the act of signing.

It coordinates with the rest of the OBF modules

Finally, when a company chooses a platform such as OnBoarding Funnel, the processes are made more efficient by the complete integration with all the other tools and with the main software already present in the company. This means faster and more efficient onboarding and management and signing of contracts and offers to customers.

What is the difference between graphometric signature and electronic signature?

If you have a look at our integrations page, you will notice that OnBoarding Funnel also offers the integration with the eSaw (eSignAnywhere) digital electronic signature. Although electronic signature and graphometric signature are often confused, they are two different tools, albeit equally important.

The main difference is in the legal value: while in the case of the graphometric signature it is still necessary to present evidence of some elements such as the identity of the person who signed and further documentation, the electronic signature is formalized by an electronic certificate issued by a Trust Service Provider (in the case of eSaw, for example, it is Namirial) who ascertains and confirms the identity.

Furthermore, another difference is how they are used: as we have seen, the graphometric signature is collected via tablet and pen, while the electronic one is completely virtual, or it can make use of a token, a badge, or a card.

Use OnBoarding Funnel to implement the graphometric signature in your operations

By choosing the OnBoarding Funnel module for branch operations digitization as ACEL Energie did, you can take advantage of all the improvements listed above: start immediately to boost your business processes and make the world a better place with our tools.
